IIM-A--first study institute to get pictorial cancellation stamp

Ahmedabad, Mar 31 (UNI) The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad today became the first educational institute to be granted a pictorial cancellation stamp by the Chief Post Master General here.

The cancellation stamp depicting the ''Sidi Syed ni Jali'', a replica of the historic Jali (architectural network), was presented to the newly appointed IIM-A Chairman Vijaypath Singhania and the institute's Director Bakul Dholakia here by Chief Post Master General Vijaylaxmi Sheth.

Ms Sheth said usually pictorial cancellations are given to archaelogical sites, wildlife sanctuaries, or some cultural bodies or institutes that are over 100 years old. ''But this is for the first time a young institute was chosen for the honour,'' she said.

About 30 pictorial cancellations have been granted in Gujarat, so far, she added.

The stamp will be used for all incoming and outgoing mails from the IIM campus post office.
