IGNOU launches new Power Distribution Management programme

New Delhi, Mar 31 (UNI) The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in collaboration with the Power Ministry has launched an Advanced Certificate in Power Distribution Management for professionals employed in electrical power utilities to upgrade their skills.

''Employees of the electricity sector will benefit from it as the programme will enhance systemic efficiency and deliver quality power to the satisfaction of the beneficiaries,'' an IGNOU Vice Chancellor V N rajasekharan Pillai.

The University, for the first batch of students of the programmes, organised a video conference with senior officials of the power ministry, including Power Secretary Anil Razdan.

Keeping in view the reforms and new technologies being introduced in the power sector, the IGNOU Vice Chancellor stressed on the need of training and knowledge upgrade of human resources engaged in the sector.

''IGNOU would like to extend this collaboration with the Ministry for developing higher level programmes for disseminating knowledge regarding new technologies to increase the efficiency of personnel working in the sector,'' he added.
