HPTDC records all time high profit of Rs 6 crore

Shimla, Mar 31 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has earned an all time high profit of Rs six crore during the current fiscal, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said.

Presiding over the 117th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Corporation here, he said it had recorded 162 per cent rise in its income in this financial year as compared to last year.

Mr Singh said, the Corporation has earned a revenue of about Rs 44 crore which included Rs 9.2 crore contributed by its marketing offices.

It was a matter of great satisfaction that the Corporation had started earning profits with every passing year and especially during the last four years, he said.

Mr Singh emphasised the need for creating a separate kitchen cadre in the corporation where best talent could be attracted to prepare and serve best food to the occupants of the HPTDC hotels.

Observing that the existing manpower should also be provided periodic training to update their professional skills, he said HPTDC hotels were the main venues for acquainting the visitors with the culture, tradition and food habits of the people of the state.

The Chief Minister said his government would also consider developing one multipurpose tourism complex in the Baddi-Barotiwala area in view of the large number of tourists and industrialists visiting the area.
