Governor administers oath to Justice Swatanter Kumar

Mumbai, Mar 31 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna today administered the oath of office to Justice Swatanter Kumar as the new Chief Justice of Bombay High Court at Raj Bhavan here this morning.

Prior to his appointment as Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, Justice Swatanter Kumar was serving as Judge in Delhi High Court.

He was born on December 31, 1947. He was enrolled as an advocate with the Delhi Bar Council on July 12, 1971. He practiced in various High courts as well as Supreme Court.

Justice Kumar also served as an Additional District and Session Judge in Himachal Pradesh from February 1983 to October 1983.

Thereafter, he resumed his practice at New Delhi. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of Delhi High Court on November 10, 1994 from where he was transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court on November 30, 1994. On October 4, 2004 he was transfered to Delhi High court.
