Four persons arrested under PD Act

Vijayawada, Mar 31 (UNI) Four persons were arrested under the Prevention and Detection (PD) Act today, for their involvement in the shoot out case of Shantan Kumar on August 18 last year.

Police sources told UNI here that the arrested included the three main persons accused in the shoot out case of Shantan Kumar - Katragadda Naga Malleswara Rao alias Babu, Musunuri Sreenu, Chunduri Koteswara Rao along with Vangaveeti Shantan Kumar.

Shantan Kumar, who was fired by some unknown persons at the civil courts here on August last year, later recovered.

Though the trio were on bail, a civil war was prevailing in the city between the groups of Babu and Kumar. The PD Act was imposed on them under emergency situation as both the groups planned to unleash violence in the city by killing themselves due to old political rivalry.

The four were shifted to Rajahmundry central jail, the sources added.

It may be noted that Babu survived an attempt on his life twice allegedly in the hands of Shantan Kumar.
