Dharnas, hunger strikes against Cauvery verdict

Mysore, Mar 31 (UNI) Farmers and pro-Kannada organisations in the Cauvery basion region seemed unrelenting, with their agitation against the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal entering the 55th day today.

In Mandya district, the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike members staged a demonstration in front of the BSNL office at Maddur and locked the office in protest against the Union Government not taking any initiative to solve the vexed issue.

Meanwhile, the Cauvery Hitarakshana Samithi members continued their relay hunger strike at Silver Jubilee park in Mandya. The dharna also continued at Pandavapura, Srirangapatna and other places in the district.

The dharna by the Cauvery Kriya Samithi in Mysore continued at K R circle.
