Assistant Commissioner arrested for taking bribe
Patna, Mar 31 (UNI) Vigilance sleuths today arrested Shahabad division Assistant Commericial Taxes Commissionar Anil Kumar while taking Rs 25,000 as bribe in his Ara office to meet the target of the fiancial year closure.
ADG Vigilance Neelmani said here that following a written complaint of Dr B K Mishra, associated with an NGO, working for eradication of corruption, the Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and arrested the officer.
He said Dr Mishra had complained that the Assistant Commercial Tax Commissioner had demanded Rs 25,000 for withdrawal of his arrears of Rs 39000 and providing the VAT number of a medicine shop.
He said Mr Kumar was being interrogated and would be produced before the Vigilance court tomorrow in Patna.
