Tamil Nadu: 3 engineering students drown

Kancheepuram, Mar 31: Three engineering students drowned while taking bath in sea at Mahabalipuram of the district today.

Police said Ajay Santharupan, Hariharan and Kathiresan -- all aged 19 -- of an engineering college in Virdhunagar, had come to Chennai on an industrial visit along with 62 other students.

The trio went to the sea to take bath when they were swept away by a giant wave.

Ajay Santharupan died on the spot while Kathiresan's body was recovered by some fishermen after a two-and-a-half-hour search.

The fishermen, later, managed to rescue Hariharan. However, he died on way to the hospital in Chengelput. The three belonged to Madurai.
