2 bear cubs recovered,1 arrested in UP

Pratapgarh, Mar 31: A forest department team recovered two bear cubs and arrested a wildlife smuggler here, official sources said.

On a tip-off, a house was raided in Nawabganj area on thursday leading, to the arrest of a smuggler identified as Niyamat.

Two young bears smuggled from Orissa were recovered from their possession.

A case has been registered against Niyamat and three other absconding members of the gang Badruddin, Salim and Siddiqui.

Forest department officials said bear cubs were smuggled out of the country to South East Asian countries on high prices.
