Situation with British sailors to be settled soon : Russia

Moscow, Mar 30 (UNI) Russia today expressed hope that the situation with 15 British sailors detained by Iranian authorities will be settled soon.

''Any documents, which are adopted in the UN Security Council, are serious,'' the official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Kamynin told Itar-Tass news agency.

''For this it is necessary to study in detail and without elements of politicising the facts, which took place,'' Mr Kamynin pointed out.

The UN Security Council adopted a statement today, which chairman of the UN Security Council Dumisani Kumalo read out after the consultative meeting.

The Security Council expressed deep concern over the capture of 15 British sailors by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and their continued detention by the Iranian government.

The UN Security Council called on the Iranian government to allow the captured sailors to meet with British consulate officials.
