Seven sentenced to life in murder case

Rourkela, Mar 30 (UNI) Additional Adhoc and Sessions Judge, Rourkela, Sobham Kumar Das has sentenced seven people to life imprisonment and asked to pay a fine of Rs 5000 each in a murder case in 2005.

According to the prosecution, all the seven accused had attacked one Thatu Sahu and his two sons while they were working in their paddy field at Karanjia village on November 20, 2005.

The father and his sons were seriously injured in the attack and were shifted to the Hospital where Thatu later succumbed to his injuries.

The judge while adjudicating a case yesterday, under different sections held Banku Sahu, Suresh Sahu, Kuni Sahu, Chhotu Sahu, Budhuram Sahu, Indra Sahu and Budhua Sahu of Karanjia village under Hatibadi police station guilty of the murder and convicted them to life imprisonment.

The judge ordered that in default to pay the fine, the convicts would undergo rigorous imprisonment for another six months.
