PIL challenging EPIC in polls filed
Lucknow, Mar 30 (UNI) A PIL was today filed before the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court challenging the compulsory provision of election photo identity card (EPIC) during the coming Uttar Pradesh poll.
The petition was filed by Public Justice Society general secretary Motilal Yadav.
The writ is likely to be taken up for hearing on Monday.
In the PIL, it is mentioned that only 50-60 per cent work on EPIC was complete and a large number of voters were still to get their cards, while the Election Commission was firm on allowing voting only on its basis.
