Lucknow, Mar 30 (UNI) Stating the BSP was 'disappointed' at the Supreme Court's decision to stay the implementation of 27 per cent reservation to OBCs in institutes of higher education, party president Mayawati today blamed Congress at the Centre for creating such a situation.

''BSP is of the view that Congress deliberately left the 'loopholes' in the case so that the Apex Court stayed it,'' she told reporters here.

Mincing no words while terming the court's decision as 'unfortunate', Ms Mayawati said Congress was never serious in this regard and was playing politics in the name of reservation for OBCs.

''...Akhir wahi hua jiska hamko dar tha (Ultimately what we were apprehending has happened),'' she said.

Had Congress been serious about the reservation, it would have presented the bill incorporating the latest survey on the number of OBCs in the country instead of using figures on the basis of 1931 census,'' the BSP leader pointed out.

Issuing a note of warning to the mebers of Backward castes, she said there was need to remain alert from the policies and intentions of the Congress, the former government of V P Singh and other parties as far as the welfare of OBCs is concerned.
