Hearing check-up for police personnel

Madurai, Mar 30 (UNI) Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) and City Police Commissioner A Subramanian today said a health camp, exclusively for the police personnel, will be conducted next week to check and enhance their hearing ability.

Talking to newspersons here, he said this was part of the initiatives being taken to enable them to maintain their fitness level.

Nearly 2500 police personnel, including women cops, would be screened in the health camp, organised in tandem with the police grievances day scheduled for April two and three, he added.

Explaining the need for such a programme, the ADGP said volume of vehicular traffic had increased manifold and an average 10000 vehicles pass by a constable, engaged in regulating traffic. Both air and sound pollution would certainly have an impact on the uniformed personnel, it was observed.

In addition to these measures, traffic police would be provided oxygen therapy to cleanse their lungs, he added.

Soon after assuming office, Mr Subramaninan had revived the Police Grievance Meet, held during his previous term as commissioner in this temple city and also organised a trekking programme for the city police.
