Gujarat Speaker expells Congress members from House
Gandhinagar, Mar 30 (UNI) All Congress members, barring leader of opposition Arjun Modhwadia and two others, were suspended by Speaker Mangaldas Patel for the day for creating noisy scenes in Gujarat Legislative Assembly on the last day of the Budget Session here today.
The unruly scenes started when the demand, of adjourning the House under rule no 108 by leader of opposition Arjun Modhvadia to protest the kidnapping and murder of a minor boy by a gang in Narole area of Ahmedabad city yesterday, was rejected by Mr Patel.
The Speaker rejected the demand terming it as ''personal'' following which, all the Congress members started shouting slogans and demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Later, they tore papers and threw into the well of the House.
When repeated requests from the Speaker to maintain the House in order failed, he gave a verdict,''I am removing all Congress members, who are sitting in well of house, for the day under rule no 52 of the House.'' The Speaker then ordered the Marshalls to physically remove all the Congress members sitting in the well of the House.
However, Mr Modhwadia and others did not attend the House for the rest of the day. Later, the Congress members conducted parallel 'Mock Assembly' just outside the office of Mr Modi for nearly 45 minutes.
Seventeen-year old collegian, Dipesh Gadhvi was kidnapped from Narole area on March 28 for a ransom of Rs 15 lakh. Yesterday his body bearing multiple stab injuries was found by the police from Nadiad town.
Mr Modhvadia alleged that as many as 25 children were kidnapped by gangsters for ransom in the last one year in Gujarat.
