Gujarat HC judges involved in fracas transferred

New Delhi, Mar 30 (UNI) Gujarat High Court Judges Behram Jahanbux Shethna and P B Majumdar, who were reportedly involved in a scuffle recently, have been transferred to Sikkim and Rajasthan respectively.

According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique, President A P J Abdul Kalam, exercising his powers under clause (1) of article 222 of the Constitution, has transferred Justice B J Shethna as a Judge of the Sikkim High Court.

Justice P B Majumdar will be a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court.

The communique did not talk of the alleged fracas between the two judges.

Justice Viney Mittal, Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, has been shifted to Madhya Pradesh High Court.

All the three judges have been asked to assume charge of their offices in the concerned High Court on or before April 14.

Further, the President has appointed Mr Kuldip Singh and Mr Rajeev Sharma as Additional Judges in the Himachal Pradesh High Court. Mr Laxmi Narain Mittal and Nawab Singh have been appointed Additional Judges in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Their appointments will be for two years from the dates they assume charge. They will hold seniority in the order their names are mentioned.
