Guj Assembly adjourns sine die

Gandhinagar, Mar 30 (UNI) Gujarat Legislative Assembly Speaker Mangaldas Patel today adjounred the 11th State Assembly sine die after five-week long Budget Session here.

In its five-week long session, the Assembly begin its business with presentation of State budget for year 2007-08 by Gujarat Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala.

The Assembly had passed record highest number of 143 bills, including Valued Added Tax (Amendmen) Bills-2007, in 28 sessions held spread over 23 working days.

During these 23 working days, the House also witnessed suspension of four Congress MLAs - Paresh Dhanani, Bhavan Bharwad, Jagdish Thakore and Dr Dinesh Parmar - for the entire Budget Session on the very second day on February 23, of the Assembly.

Beside these, several walk-outs, including expulsion of entire Congress Opposition from the House on last day today by speaker Mr Patel for creating uproarious scenes in the Assembly took place.
