Govt cancels, reschedules trains due to bandh

Chennai, Mar 30 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today announced cancellation and reschedulment of trains in view of tomorrow's dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the ruling DMK-led DPA in protest against the Supreme Court's stay on 27 per cent OBC quota.

A Southern Railway release here announced cancellation of all passenger trains and suburban trains in the State from 0600 hrs to 1800 hrs.

All trains coming to Tamil Nadu will either be brought before 0600 hrs or regulated at suitable stations after making arrangements for the passengers for catering, water.

The south-bound trains including the Madurai-Chennai Egmore Vaigai Express, Tiruchchirappalli--Chennai Pallavan Express, Chennai Egmore-Pondicherry Passenger, Pondicherry-Chennai Egmore Express and the Coimbatore--Kumbakonam Jan Shatabdi Express would be cancelled.

The Chennai Egmore-Guruvayur Express would be partially cancelled between Nagercoil-Chennai Egmore, the Chennai Egmore-Mangalore Express partially cancelled between Trichy and Shoranur and the Chennai Egmore-Trivandrum Ananthapuri Express would be partially cancelled between Villupuram-Chennai Egmore.

On the south-west side, Chennai Central-Mysore Shatabdi Express, Bangalore-Chennai Central Shatabdi Express, Chennai Central- Coimbatore Kovai Express, Bangalore-Coimbatore Express, Chennai Central-Bangalore Brindavan Express, Chennai-Bangalore Lalbagh Express, Chennai Central-Bangalore Express, Chennai-Tirupati Express, Tirupati-Chennai Garudadri Express, Coimbatore-Chennai Central Intercity Express, Arakkonam-Jolarpettai Express, Chennai Central-Tirupattur Yelagiri Express, would be cancelled.

The Chennai Central-Mangalore West coast Express would be partially cancelled between Chennai Central and Palakkad and the Mysore-Chennai Central Kaveri Express would be terminated at Arakkonam and the rake would be brought to Chennai Central after 1800 hrs to work for the Kaveri Express.

The release said Chennai Central-Thiruvananthapuram Express would be partially cancelled between Jolarpettai-Chennai Central.

On the North East line, the Chennai Central-Vijayawada Jan Shatabdi Express would be cancelled while the Vijayawada- Chennai Central Pinakini Express and the Hyderabad-Chennai Central Charminar Express would be partially cancelled between Gudur-Chennai Central.

The Chennai Central-Hyderabad Charminar Express would leave from Gudur at 2045 hrs tomorrow, the release added.
