Courage most powerful tool to open minds: Kalam

Jaipur, Mar 30 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam here today emphasised the importance of courage saying ''it is the most powerful tool to elevate and open the minds''.

On a visit to Prayas, Jhalana centre, one of the first integrated informal schools for low-income and neglected children here, President Kalam praised the teachers of the school for trying to make these special children happy.

He made the children take a three-point oath asking them not to let their disabilities pose a hurdle in their path.

Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil and Director Prayas, Jatinder Kaur, were also present on the occasion.

Dr Kalam invited 50 children of Prayas to the Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi to have tea with him. The President was handed over a book 'Sadhe Kadam', a chart and film 'Ek Samajh' by the children.

Prayas, established in 1996, has four centres namely Jhalana, Raja Park, Amagarh and Sanganer and has about 400 specially challenged children along with others from below poor families.
