Cong walkout in MP Assembly over revoking suspension

Bhopal, Mar 30 (UNI) The main opposition Congress staged a walkout in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly today after the house witnessed a bedlam over revoking the suspension of a Education Department official accused of cheating.

''Suspension being revoked even prior to completion of an inquiry cannot be described as proper. The official was charged with forging the Collector's signature,'' said Speaker Ishwardas Rohani who directed School Education Minister Narottam Mishra to table a probe report in the next session.

After the matter was raised by Mr Durgalal Vijay (Bharatiya Janata Party) during Question Hour, Leader of the Opposition Jamuna Devi, Mr Indrajeet Kumar, Mr Satyadev Katare, Mr Arif Aqueel (all Cong) and Mr Ramlakhan Sharma (Communist Party of India-Marxist) said that the matter was grave and it should be made clear why the suspension was revoked.

''A senior official will be sent from Bhopal for an inquiry that will be completed in two months,'' said Mr Mishra. However, the members continued to raise the matter despite the Speaker repeatedly stating that he had already issued a directive to the government.

Earlier, Mr Vijay had sought to know whether revocation of suspension had taken place vis-a-vis the official allegedly responsible for large-scale irregularities in purchase of computers six years back for Headstart centres under the Rajiv Gandhi Shiksha Mission in the shedpur district.
