Centre releases Rs 8510.26 lk for nutrition in NE

The
Centre
has
released
Rs
8510.26
lakh
for
the
eight
North-East
(NE)
states
to
provide
nutrition
to
the
children
under
ICDS
scheme
during
the
last
fiscal.
According
to
Union
Government
release
here
today,
the
Union
Ministry
of
Women
and
Child
Development
had
released
Rs
8510.26
lakh
upto
March
13
this
year
to
provide
nutritional
support
to
the
children
under
the
Integrated
Child
Development
Services
(ICDS)
scheme.
Of
the
total
amount
released
for
the
eight
NE
states,
including
Sikkim,
Assam
was
on
top
of
the
list
with
an
amount
of
Rs
3711.54
lakh
followed
by
Nagaland
with
Rs
1188.71
lakh,
Meghalaya
Rs
1023.42
lakh,
Manipur
Rs
914.32
lakh,
Tripura
Tripura
707.69
lakh,
Mizoram
488.97
lakh,
Arunahal
Pradesh
Rs
379.84
lakh
and
the
Sikkim
was
the
lowest
which
got
Rs
95.77
lakh
respectively,
the
release
said.
Under
the
scheme,
the
Centre
provided
financial
support
to
the
states
up
to
50
per
cent
of
the
financial
norms
or
to
support
50
per
cent
of
the
expenditure
incurred
by
them
on
supplementary
nutrition,
whichever
was
less.
Currently,
nutritional
support
under
the
ICDS
was
being
provided
to
about
543.43
lakh
children
throughout
the
country
through
a
network
of
about
7.81
lakh
Anganwadi
centres,
the
release
added.
