Bandh will cripple industrial activity, discourage investors
Chennai, Mar 30 (UNI) The dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the DMK-led DPA tomorrow in Tamil Nadu on the reservation issue, will cripple the Industrial and commercial activity in the State, the CII said today and appealed to Chief Minister M karunanidhi to reconsider the decision.
CII Tamil Nadu State Council Chairman Gopal Srinivasan said bandh was not the solution for any issue in a democratic process and urged the state Government to resolve the issue through legal and Constitutional options.
The CII submitted an appeal to the Chief Minister's office urging him to reconsider their decision.
In a statement, Mr Gopal Srinivasan said at a time when the state was at the forefront of economic development, stalling the industrial and commercial activity due to bandh would have an adverse impact on investors.
''Moreover, industries are committed to meet their productivity target in the end of the financial year. The loss of State Gross Domestic Product (SGDP) at current prices per day, is estimated at Rs.750 crores approximately'', he added.
UNI
