Appropriation bill 2007-08 passed in the Assembly

Bangalore, Mar 30 (UNI) Karnataka Legislative Assembly today passed the Appropriation (Vote on Account) Bill for 2007-08 by voice vote amid uproarious scene.

The Assembly had to pass the bill second time since it was defeated in the Legislative Council 27-26 by the opposition Congress which has majority.

Congress members took objection for passing the Bill without discussion as Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, who also holds Finance portfolio, had announced additional allocation of Rs 17 Crores in the Council earlier in the day.

Mr Yediyurappa defended saying that he had the power to made additional allocation.

The bill was passed by voice vote.
