10 dead as three-wheeler falls into Mahi canal

Anand, Mar 30: Ten people were feared killed when a three-wheeler they were travelling in fell into Mahi canal near Bacheri village in Umreth taluk here.

The accident occurred at about 2130 hrs last night.

The three-wheeler or chagda rickshaw as it is commonly known here, was carrying 14 persons including six children and two women.

Out of the remaining persons, the driver managed to escape while two women and a man were rescued.

Fire brigade personnel from Anand, Dakor and Nadiad have rushed to the spot. So far no bodies have been recovered, reports that last came in said.
