Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, Mar 29 (UNI) The Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) will support the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam's (LTTE) struggle for a separate Tamil state in Sri Lanka as per ''the party's policy'', MDMK General Secretary Vaiko asserted today.

Talking to media at Tiruchirapalli Central Prison, after calling on imprisoned MDMK organising sercretary Seema Basheer, he however added that the MDMK would not support any unlawful activities of the LTTE in Tamil Nadu.

The Sri Lankan Army (SLA) was involved in the killing Tamils in the island nation, he alleged.

He charged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanaidhi with playing a 'dual role' on the Sri Lankan issue. Mr Karunanidhi favoured joint patrolling by Sri Lankan and the Indian Navy ''it was proposed by Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse, but following opposition, he backtracked,'' he said.

To a query on Basheer's alleged involvement in hawala transactions for the LTTE, Mr Vaiko claimed that the DMK government was acting vindictively by foisting false cases against MDMK leaders. There was not an iota of truth in the charges, he said.

He predicted great political changes in national politics after the Uttar Pradesh Assebmbly polls and said the Congress would suffer a big defeat in the election. There would be a change in the Tamil Nadu political scenario too and the DMK government would not complete its full term, he added.

To another query, he said the MDMK would remain in the AIADMK alliance and AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa would decide on including other parties in the Democratic People's Alliance (DPA).
