USV launches sweetener Cutkal
Mumbai, Mar 29 (UNI) One of the largest players in the anti-diabetic segment in the country, USV, today announced the launch of its new age sweetener in the country, Cutkal.
A combination of Aspartame and acesulfame-K, the product is aimed for the diabetics, obese and the calorie conscious.
Briefing the media after the launch, USV Chairperson Leena Gandhi Tewari said ''Despite the fact that it was worth Rs 60 crore and growing at 20 per cent, the sweetener market in the country is still in its nascent stage and hence we see a huge potential for USV.'' Talking about the contents of the new product, she said that Asparatame and Acesulfame-k, both have alredy been approved by the US FDA (The United States Foods and Drugs Authority) and also the fact that it has been found to be far more effective than that of the saccharine, she said.
Speaking on the occasion, USV Managing Director Prashant Tewari said ''With Cutkal, we aim to broaden our product offering to the Indian diabetic population which has already crossed the mark of three crore and was growing at high as 25-30 per cent.'' It will further reinforce our position as the complete solution provider for diabetic management in the country, he hoped.

a
leader
in
the
domestic
diabetic
oral
drugs
market
with
a
market
share
of
13
per
cent
and
we
are
expecting
to
get
the
5-7
per
cent
of
market
share
in
the
cardiovascular
drugs
markets
too
within
a
year.''
