Kolkata, Mar 29 (UNI) The Trinamool Congress today submitted to the West Bengal Assembly Speaker a privilege notice against Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee for ''misleading'' the House on land acquisition in Singur.

''We have submitted the privilege notice against the Chief Minister on the ground of discrepancy in figures he provided inside and outside the House on the amount of land willingly given by the villagers of Singur for the Tata Motors' small car factory,'' Leader of the Opposition Partha Chatterjee told reporters.

The Trinamool Congress Legislature Party also wanted to know how the Chief Minister could make a statement at a rally yesterday owning responsibility for the Nandigram firing instead of during the ongoing Budget session of the Assembly.

The Speaker is likely to give his ruling tomorrow as to whether the notice would be accepted.

Mr Chatterjee said the Chief Minister stated in the Assembly that all the 997 acres of land, acquired in Singur had been willingly given by the owners. He had made a similar claim in a letter to Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee when she was on a hunger strike. But, in the affidavit filed with the Calcutta High Court, the state Government said the amount of such land was 305 acres.
