Suicide blast near Pakistan base; 1 dead, 8 hurt

Islamabad, March 29: A suicide bomber struck near a Pakistani military base today and one person was killed and eight were wounded, a military spokesman said.

It was not clear if the person killed in the attack in Kharian, 90 kms (55 miles) southeast of Islamabad, was the bomber.

''The report is it was a suicide bombing, one dead and eight wounded,'' said military spokesman Major-General Waheed Arshad.
