Second World Kannada Conference in Belgaum in September-end

Bangalore, Mar 29 (UNI) The deferred second World Kannada Conference would be held in Belgaum during the last week of September this year, Kannada and Culture Minister Mahadeva Prasad informed the Karnataka Legislative Council today.

Replying to BJP's Mukyamantri Chandru during question hour, he said the event, originally scheduled to be held in February, was postponed following the Cauvery agitation. A Committee, headed by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, would decide the dates and it would be announced shortly. The State Government had constituted several committees for the successful conduct of the meet, to be held in the 50th year of the State's formation.

Intervening, Mr Kumaraswamy said that to commemorate the State's golden jubilee, the State Government had taken measures to construct as many as 52 Kannada Bhavans in the border areas.

Congress members Umashree, Dr L Hanumanthaiah, Dr Chandrashekhar Kambar and Prabhakar Kore, BJP's Aravinda Limbavali, Srinath and Manohar Maski also participated in the discussion.
