Pakistan delegation meets AP CM

Hyderabad, Mar 29 (UNI) A Pakistani delegation led by the Chairman of the Rural Support Programmes Nertwork (RSPN) Shoaib Sultan Khan, today called on Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy at the Secretariat.

The team comprised heads of ten rural support organisations working for upliftment of rural areas in Pakistan, studied functioning of rural development activities in Andhra Pradesh, in particular the lakhs of women Self-Help Groups and Societies for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP).

Mr Khan and his entire team hailed the Chief Minister for the multi-faceted rural development programmes initiated in the state.

The Chief minsiter said bank loans were made available to SHGs at three per cent interest per annum by providing nearly six per cent subsidy by the State government.

Mr Khan said 'such programmes need the brain of a genius. When we visited some of the SHGs in districts like Anantapur and Warangal, we found best efforts of the resource persons there', an official release said.
