Opposition staged a walkout on sugarcane issue
Mumbai, Mar 29 (UNI) The entire opposition staged a walkout in the Maharashtra legislative council on the issue of sugarcane crushing and compensation Replying to a question by Suresh Jethilia (Sena), Cooperation minister Dr Patangrao Kadam said all the sugar factories would continue crushing till may 31 and remaining sugarcane will be given compensation alongwith transport subsidies.
However this did not satisfy the opposition members including Nitin Gadkari, Pandurang Phundkar(BJP), Madhukar Sarpotdar (Sena) and they staged a walk out raising anti-government slogans.
Replying to the supplymentary by Madhu Chavan (BJP), on the excess sugarcane stock, Dr Kadam said the government has taken all possible steps to see that farmers face no trouble. ''I would appeal them not to commit suicides'', he added.
