Mizo HM admits distribution of expired drugs

Aizawl, Mar 29: Mizoram Health Minister R Tlanghmingthanga today admitted in the Assembly that a state health department pharmacist had given expired drugs to two patients at Saipum village along Mizoram-Asom border on March 15.

Replying to the issue raised by Congress MLA Lalrinliana Sailo, Mr Tlanghmingthanga informed the Assembly that the allegations were found true after thorough investigation.

He said the pharmacist gave the expired medicine censured by his superior officer.

'' We have instructed all the pharmacists to conduct a weekly verification to check the expiry of the medicines and drugs in the department's store,'' he said.

Meanwhile, both the patients were now out of danger, sources said.
