MCD seals 40 units on second day of sealing drive

New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) The MCD's drive to seal units running in violation of the 2021 Master Plan continued for the second day today with 40 units put to seal.

The MCD zones where sealing was carried out included the South, City and Civil Lines zones, an MCD spokesperson said.

''While 22 shops were sealed on main road Gopal Pur village in Civil Lines, nine shops were sealed at Krishna Nagar and road connecting PVR road and Mandir Marg in South zone. Nine shops were sealed in Nizammudin in city zone,''the spokesperson said.

With today's sealing, the total number of shops sealed since yesterday is 101.

Under the sealing scanner are shops in notified areas operating in violation of norms laid down by the 2021 Master Plan of Delhi.

Meanwhile, Union Minister of state for Urban Development Ajay Maken today sought to allay apprehensions among traders by stating that sealing being carried out was negligible and encompassed just 0.5 per cent of shops in Delhi.
