J J B Tirkey files bail petition

Patna, Mar 29 (UNI) Incarcerated former Planning Officer of Patna J J B Tirkey today filed a regular bail petition before the special vigilance court in connection with a case related to scam in Urban Development Employment scheme.

The designated judge, S P N Singh, fixed April two as, the date for hearing on the bail petition.

Mr Tirkey was lodged in Beur jail of Patna from March 26, 2007 after his arrest from Ranchi in connection with the case.

The case was related to irregularities committed in distribution of Rs 1.52 lakh among the Non-Government Organisations(NGOs) meant for urban development under different schemes in 2004-05.

The then District Magistrate of Patna, Dr Gautam Goswami, and Mr Tirkey were made named accused in the case.

Mr Tirkey was later posted as planning officer of Ranchi district of Jharkhand.
