Italian bull to bring 'Gallardo Superleggera' to India

New Delhi, Mar 29: After introducing the convertible Gallardo Spyder and the Murcielago, Italian sports car maker Lamborghini will soon roll out the Gallardo Superleggera in India.

The company known for its 'exclusivity' is excited to bring this international driving sensation to burn rubber on Indian roads.

''With this new lightweight variant of the highly successful 'Gallardo model', high speed aficionados and Lamborghini owners will now have the fastest and the most desirable sports car in the Indian market,'' said Mr Satya Bagla, Managing Director, Exclusive Motors, the authorised representative of Lamborghini in India.

The new Gallardo Superleggera can be ordered through the dealer network from this month and production volumes will be restricted to lower numbers than the standard Gallardo.

''These great machines will be retailed from our exclusive outlet dedicated to the raging bull,'' President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, SpA Stephan Winkelmann said in a statement here today.

Lamborghinis have always been known for their radical presence, whether it was the Miura, the Countach, the Diablo, the Gallardo, he said adding that the Gallardo Superleggera will continue this legacy, albeit at a different level.

The increased power (an additional 10 hp) and a 100 kg reduction in weight, the new range-leading Gallardo Superleggera is even more dynamic than the already very sporty Gallardo. Weight/power ratio of the vehicle is only 2.5 kg/hp.

The Superleggera also has the fastest acceleration in its class.

It needs only 3.8 seconds to go from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph), 0.2 seconds less than the basic model, and boasting speed and grit under other driving conditions.
