Indo-Bangla border alerted to prevent bird flu
Silchar, Mar 29 (UNI) Authorities have alerted international border with Bangladesh along Asom's Barak Valley to prevent entry of avian influenza virus from the neighboring country.
The virus had been detected in Bangladesh recently, official sources today said adding the district administration in Barak Valley made it sure that no poultry entered this part of Asom from neighboring Bangladesh.
" The 124-km-long international border, which Barak Valley shares with Bangladesh, has been alerted to make it sure that no chicken gets entry into this part of the North-East, " the sources said.
According to Cachar DC Gautom Ganguly, officials of animal Husbandry and Veterinary department were on regular visits to the poultry farms in the district and along border areas in particular since the outbreak of bird flu in Bangladesh.
He said till now no case of avian influenza had been detected in Barak Valley areas of the state However, as a precautionary measure all the owners of poultry farms had been advised to take necessary measures.
