HC issues notice to Suniel Shetty
Mumbai, Mar 28 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today issued a notice to Bollywood star Suniel Shetty for running his adventure sports company Drishti Adventures without a valid licence at the Girgaum Chowpatty here.
A division bench of acting Chief Justice J N Patel and S C Dharmadhikari issued the notice to the actor and it also issued a notice to the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), a state government undertaking which issues linceces to such adventure companies, to know about the status of the company's licence.
Hearing a long-pending petition, it was told to the court that the licence of Drishti Adventures, owned by Suneil Shetty, had expired in December last and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Collector, Mumbai had refused to renew the same on the ground that the company was allegedly being run by violating the norms and regulations of the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ).
The court issued the notice to MTDC, which is returnable on April 4.
The court also directed the state government to remove a stall, owned by Mafco, another state government undertaking, on the Chowpatty within 24 hours.
The petitioners contended that the stall was also an illegal one.
