Film producer Doshi arrested

Mumbai, Mar 29 (UNI) Film producer Gaurang Doshi was today arrested on charges of rape, threatening and assault on a complaint filed by struggling actress Flora Saini here last month.

Ms Saini had registered a complaint of assault and threatening against Doshi on February 16, this year. Fearing arrest, Doshi had moved a ABA in the Sessions court. Additional Session Court judge P V Bavkar rejected his plea and granted 14 days time to move to higher court to get relief. The Bombay High Court had also rejected his application.

Initially the complaint was booked under section 325, 427 and 506 (II) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Later, charges were modified and (376) rape charge was added at the time of second hearing of ABA.

However, Doshi had denied charges levelled against him and stated that Saini was after his money.

Ms Saini's contention is that Doshi had promised to marry her and hence she was staying with him since the past one-and-half years.

During this period he had taken her to South Africa for 15-days and Pune, Delhi and other parts of the country.

On Valentine's day this year, he had assaulted her, fracturing her jaw. Fearing threat to her life, she fled from there and went to her parents place at Lokhandwala in Andheri, she has stated in her affidavit.
