Lucknow, Mar 29 (UNI) The Election Commission has banned wall writings and the use of posters during campaigning for the seven- phase assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the recent directive, the EC has also restricted the use of private or public property for wall writing and poll posters.

State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anuj Kumar Bishnoi today said here that the ban on the use of posters and wall writings would be strictly followed in the districts.

However, there would be no restriction on political flags on houses.

The EC directive will come as a blow to political parties as they usually print a huge numbers of posters for the campaign.

In another directive, the Commission has said that the polling agent of the candidate should be the voter of the area and he must have a Election Photo Identity Card(EPIC).

'' The polling agents would be inside the polling booth from where they can watch the process but if there is a space problem then alternative arrangements should be made,'' he said.
