Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, Mar 29 (UNI) A dacoity case has been registered against former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, his son Amit and scores of others after a clash between Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress workers near Dongargarh late last night.

Police told UNI that about 400 Congress workers, led by Mr Jogi, reached Dongargarh last night alleging that Revenue Minister Brijmohan Agrawal was conducting a meeting there in violation of Election Commission guidelines.

Tension mounted after workers of both parties raised slogans resulting in the clash. A photographer, who tried to take pictures, was beaten up and Congress workers allegedly snatched his camera.

Later, police registered a case against Mr Jogi, Amit, National Students' Union of India state President Vikas Upadhayaya and about 200 others for dacoity and other charges, following the photographer's complaint.

Meanwhile, Mr Jogi's Political Secretary Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said that registration of dacoity charges against the ex-chief minister was ''unfortunate''.

''Mr Jogi is in a wheelchair. How can he snatch a camera?'' he asked adding that the administration was allowing state ministers to move freely in the constituency.
