CPI(ML) for scrapping of BPL list
Patna, Mar 29 (UNI) The CPI(ML) today urged the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government to scrap the Below Poverty Line(BPL) list and prepare it afresh.
Talking to reporters here, deputy leader of state Legislative party Arun Kumar alleged that the NDA government had failed to rectify the ''discrepancies'' in the BPL list so far triggering widespread resentment among the poor across the state.
Scrapping of the ''erroneous'' BPL list was the only way to end the ongoing controversy over the BPL list, he mainatined He said the state government should not have pushed through the Bihar Police Bill-2007 in the state Legislature, adding several clauses in it could create a police anarchy in the state.
The NDA government should have ensured thorough debate on Police Bill in the state Legislature to discuss its controversial sections.
One such section dealt with creating hurdles in traffic movements which might attract a fine up to Rs 10,000, he pointed out.
