CCEA approves acquisition of two vessels

New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved acquisition of two 250 passenger-cum-cargo vessels each costing Rs 82.35 crore.

The 100 tonne vessels will provide transport facilities to islanders in Lakshadweep. They will be obtained during 2009-10 through competitive bidding, said Minister for Information and Broadcasting P R Dasmunsi.

The CCEA also approved acquisition of six landing barges for Rs 51.06 crore to facilitate passengers and cargo movements. The delivery will be obtained by 2009-end.
