Srinagar, Mar 29 (UNI) The state unit of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has declared a war against corrupt officials in Jammu and Kashmir.

A CBI spokesman said the agency is launching an anti- corruption drive in all parts of the state from April one to weed out this evil from society.

He said the drive will cover the employees of all the Public Sector Undertakings, Nationalised Banks, Defence Institutions and Central Government offices located within the state.

The spokesman appealed to the general public to furnish corruption-related information against any of the employees of these organisations verbally or under written complaints.

He said once complaints are received, action will be initiated to book the corrupt officials.

Complaints can be lodged at the CBI office, he said, adding that credentials or identity of the informer is not required.

The state Vigilance Organisation (VO) has already launched a drive against corrupt officials in the state.

On an average one to two officials are being arrested and booked almost daily while accepting bribes in the state.

The Organisation has also confiscated property of about a dozen senior officials for indulging in corrupt practices.

Jammu and Kashmir is the only state where property of a corrupt officials could be confiscated by the VO.
