Call money ends high at 10 pc

Mumbai, Mar 29 (UNI) The interbank call rates ended at 10.00-11.00 per cent as against their previous closing level of 7.00-9.00 per cent.

''Amidst already tight cash position, a rush for covering short-dollar positions as the rupee fell against the dollar put pressure on rupee liquidity,'' a leading trader said.

Two bids of Rs 40 crore were received at the 1-day LAF reverse repo window, while the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) accepted 32 bids worth Rs 17,865 crore at the 1-day repo window.

At the CBLO segment, 399 bids of Rs 20,693 crore were transacted in the range of 5.77-8.00 per cent.

Inter bank rates are expected to shoot up as few lenders capitalising on the situation and offering funds at higher rates, dealers added.
