BJP will get majority in UP assembly polls: Kalyan
Lucknow, Mar 29 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh today expressed confidence that it will form the government in Uttar Pradesh with full majority, and appealed to the electorate to vote for a stable and corruption-free government.
''BJP would not form the government with the help of any party including Mayawati-led BSP. Hence the voters support for the majority is need of the hour,'' senior party leader Kalyan Singh told reporters here.
Setting off for a hectic campaign for the seven-phase assembly election, Mr Singh, the projected Chief ministerial candidate in the state, said the odds were heavily tilted in favour of the BJP and it was sitting pretty to form the government.
''I have no hesitation in saying that the party which has been on the fringes for the last so many years has now grabbed centrestage,'' he claimed.
Never before had the people of the state been so disenchanted with the ruling government. The Mulayam Singh Yadav-led government had failed on all fronts compelling the electorate to look up to BJP for a viable alternative, he said.
''BJP is just not an alternative to the corrupt, casteist and anti-people regime to Samajwadi Party government but it was a necesssity in the development starved state of UP.'' Announcing that issues of cultural nationalism, aggressive Hindutva and social justice, will be the agenda for the assembly polls, the BJP National Vice-President said his party would put three government models before the people--SP, BSP and BJP. It would be up to the voters to decide if they want a transparent government of the BJP or a government with casteist bent and criminal elements in their folds.
He said the BJP was in electoral fight with SP and BSP in most of the places, while Congress hardly has its presence in the state.
Similarly, the Ajit Singh-led Rashtriya Lok Dal had its dominance in very few constituencies mainly confined to wesetrn Uttar Pradesh, he pointed out.
