Hyderabad, Mar 29 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for the day today as the Opposition stalled the proceedings over riparian issues involving Maharashtra and Karnataka and World Bank conditionalities.

When the House reassembled after two adjournments, the main Opposition TDP members were up on their feet raising slogans against the government for alleged failure to prevent Maharashtra and Karnataka from going ahead with ''illegal'' projects across the Godavari and Krishna rivers.

The CPI and CPI (M) staged a sit-in in the well of the House to protest against the Congress Government's action in 'pledging' the state to the World Bank and 'succumbing' to its conditionalities.

They demanded the state government make public the terms and conditions for the loans secured from the World Bank.

Despite repeated appeals by Speaker K R Suresh Reddy to resume seats, the Opposition obstructed the proceedings.

Amid the din, the Speaker announced that the all the listed questions were deemed to have been answered and papers laid on the table.

Even as the Opposition plunged the House into utter pandemonium the Speaker put to voice vote the supplementary estimates of expenditure for 2006-2007.

After the House adopted the estimates, the Speaker adjourned the House for the day.
