V N Mathur takes over as Member Traffic, Railway Board

New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) Mr Vinoo Narain Mathur, a 1971 batch Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer, took over as Member Traffic, Railway Board and ex-officio Secretary to Government of India, here today.

He succeeds Mr S.B. Ghosh Dastidar, who retired today.

Prior to the new assignment, Mr Mathur was General Manager of Northern Railway. He will, however, be holding additional charge of the office of General Manager, Northern Railway till further orders.

Mr Mathur has rich experience of working in different departments of Indian Railways. His specialisation includes operations, commercial and safety, besides general management.

A distinguished officer of varied experience, Mr Mathur held various key positions in different Zonal Railways and the Railway Board. He worked as Divisional Railway Manager of Dhanbad Division on the erstwhile Eastern Railway (now East Central Railway). In the Railway Board, he held the posts of Executive Director (Tourism&Catering), Executive Director (Planning), Adviser (Coaching), and Secretary Railway Board. He was also a Faculty Member at the Railway Staff College, Vadodara.

A Graduate from Delhi's prestigious St. Stephen's College, Mr Mathur had been on deputation to various countries. He worked as Deputy Chief Manager (Transportation Training) to the Government of Iraq, Transportation Advisor to the Mozambique Railways, and Technical Expert to Jordanian Railways.
