Two women get RI for circulating fake notes
Mumbai, Mar 28 (UNI) A Sessions court here today sentenced two women to three-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) for possessing and circulating fake currency notes.
The court, however, acquitted five others involved in the case.
Sewri Sessions Court Judge found Tasleem Nasiruddin Shaikh and Beena Tariuddin Shaikh guilty of possessing and circulating fake currency notes and also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each.
The Judge, however, acquitted five others, including three family members, due to some technicalities.
Nagpada police had arrested Tasleem and Beena on January 22, 2005 while trying to circulate fake currency notes of Rs 50 denominations. Their arrest had led the police to five others, who were accused of printing the fake notes. The police had also recovered a lot of printing material from them.
