Kochi: Third plant of SSPML inaugurated

Kochi, Mar 28: The third plant of the Sree Sakthi Paper Mills Ltd (SSPML), with an installed capacity of 140 tonnes per day, was inaugurated here today, making the company the largest producer of industrial paper in South India.

Talking to reporters, on the occasion, SSPML Managing Director S Rajkumar said with the opening of the new plant, SSPML would have a total manufacturing capacity of 100,000 tonnes per annum and a turn over of Rs 150 crore.

''The company has emerged as the largest player in South India, which manufacturers industrial variety of paper such as Kraft paper and Duplex board,'' he said.

The new plant, set up at an investment of Rs 25 crore, is equipped with the latest multi-wire technology to produce all grades of industrial grade kraft paper.

The plant would especially cater to the specific demands of MNCs like HLL and Nestle, which were switching to boxes with high burst factor, ring crush test and grammage to ensure high compression test values, he added.

Describing the plant as totally environment-friendly, he said it is expected to use 100 per cent recycled waste paper as raw material. The bulk of the raw material is to be imported from the US, Europe and Dubai.

The company had gone public in January this year and the bulk of the expansion was funded by the equity raised through the IPO and terms loans, he added.
