Temple car should be pulled on Aayilyam star day

Chennai, Mar 28 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today had a dig at the BJP's decision to launch a demonstration demanding that the temple car festival at Tiruvarur should be pulled on the day of "Aayilyam" star.

In a statement here, he said for several years the temple car had not been pulled and people had forgotten about it.

"Only after the DMK came to power in 1970, it had spent lakhs of rupees for laying roads and the temple car was pulled", he said.

"Since 1970, the temple car festival was held 25 times and on only three occasions it was pulled on Aayilyam star day. Where had the BJP people gone that day", he asked.
